Halloween Props are a must have for any Halloween party or house decor. Sure you can get the customary Jack O’ Lantern, but that is not really scary – everyone knowns it is just a pumpkin that has been pulped with a crude face cut into it and a candle stuck or lightbulb inside.
Halloween in the sense that most people like to think of it, is a time for the supernatural and especially the scary and the horrifying. So how can you scare people? With great props of course of course. There are many different varieties of props that we shall present to you on this site, but first let us just have a brief overview of what prop types there are.
Types of Scary Halloween Props
Haunted House Props
If you are hosting an halloween party. Then some of the best Halloween Party Props are those that set your house or at least the party room up as if the house were haunted or possessed by demons. You can buy scene setters which are like wallpaper that can turn your room instantly into an errie place like a graveyard. And you can buy props that stick to the walls or hang from the ceilings like spider webs, rats nests and skeletons. And then of course there are free standing props too. Tombstones, coffins and crucifixes always work well. And whether you will feature spider webs and rats nests or not as part of your decor, having some large arachnids and zombie rodents will be great. And let’s not forget bats. A candelabra or two will also work well, as will a skull. You can also get life size cutouts of zombies, ghouls and other monsters. Or if movie horror characters are more your thing, you might be able to get some of those too, like Freddy Krueger from Nightmare on Elm Streeet.
Halloween Costumes Props
Some people regard a costume as a prop itself. Sure enough it does essentially turn the Halloween reveller into a creature of the night. Or you could also put the costume on a mannequin if you have one. What costumes are there? There are limitless choices of Halloween props. You can go for the obvious, and get a werewolf, a vampire – including good old Count Dracula himself, a zombie, a ghost and some other kind of ghoul or monster halloween props. And then you also get the infamous horror movie individuals. Scary Halloween Masks
As opposed to full out costumes, some people prefer just to get a mask. These can either be worn or hung depending on what you want to uyse the mask for.
These type of halloween props are the most common because not everyone necessarily has the desire or money to purchase a full costume.
As above you can get exactly the same types of masks as you can costumes to complete the look of the monster or horror character.
Decapitated, wounded or deformed limbs
These are halloween props favorites. Horror is associated with fatalities and casualties, and so there are props of limbs to facilitate that feeling. You can get parts like arms where the flesh has been ripped right through to the bone. Or you can get wounds that can be attacked to the body like a stab or gash, or even a rat that has burrowed its way into your flesh. Or how about the good old decapitated hand, or a freshly disembowled set of intestines fresh from the insane butcher? Gross, freaky and scary!

Of course part of the achievement of an eerie mood and atmosphere is set by the lighting. We all know how in horror movies there are often scenes set in low light or even next to no light sometimes to create the atmosphere of claustrophobia and nowhere to run or hide. The hunted can not see, but the hunter knows exactly where their prey is and will easily get them. Well adjusting the lighting for your Halloween event will achieve the same with these halloween props.
